Legacy products out of SPX were intended to demonstrate the capabilities of the optical interposer. If you follow my posts and what the company has been saying you will recognize that this was a low cost alternative that was/is intended to prove the value of POET's platform.  The capability for much more advanced products was always there. Running electrical circuits very close to and right on top or below the waveguides provided a model that makes very high transfer rates achievable but they had to slow walk the development due to cash constraints. The fundamental capabilities of advanced applications were always there right from the start.
