Wow, those are explosive suggestions - that management may be working against this company and against the shareholders. If I were to believe that, I'd certainly start selling. I don't have an inside tract to management as some do, but I've been following for many years, and while I do think management makes mistakes, I also still trust Suresh and team.
I say I am willing to wait five years, because when a company can't seem to move the stock price or attract the big money based on future expectations, eventually real earnings that are rising year after year will definitely move the stock price up. Things have taken longer than expected, for sure, but what did you expect management to do? Warn about that and see the stock price plunge even further? They were constantly criticized for not communicating enough, so they started to communicate much more, were criticized for those being insufficient or too poorly done, etc etc.
Most of the delays have not been under their control whatsoever and were of the 'waiting for the bus' sort, like the covid lockdowns. No one knew when those would be lifted, so they kept hoping and waiting like everyone else. The resulting supply chain breakdowns affected them even more. Now they have to wait for other companies to perfect the products in which they will use Poet tech. Again - they have no control. I can see why all of this would keep our stock price down, but did you expect them to warn and bellyache about it, when that, too would impact the price?
Everyone is cross because their expectations of when the stock price would rise has been disappointed, and they want to blame management and second guess and scold, and since some (not all) of that comes in hyperbolic form from people whose arrogance and rudeness leaves me doubting their sound judgement, I find myself wanting to defend management. They are just imperfect people doing a pretty good job (like NOT causing massive stock dilution) with a tiny budget.
So, yeah, I look at reality and wish I had understood it better a few years ago, but if I'm not willing to have a five year horizon, then its best to sell now. Someone famous said not to own a stock you weren't willing to hold ten years. If Poet's tech, which still seems to stand quite alone, is what we think it is, then the years are going to be good to this business. I hope my trust in management is not misplaced. Time will tell.
