Be it missing benefits in Suresh’s Video or missing Dollar-figures in any POET news - I sometimes wonder what some of us expect.

Marketing:

With the POET OI you will impress the cutests girls in town and if you take three of them “it will cure your asthma too” (quoting Frank Zappas Kozmic Debris)? Hmm, not really I guess. Marketing needs to address specific target groups in their language. For POET this is a technical language. Having the fastet easiest cheapest way to 800G is what  the target group views as the desireable “benefit” as they know why they long for it. No need to state the obvious as the adressable market is feverously working on just that, yet without having achieved as much as POET.

This takes me to the second point:  contracts wit $$$$$$$$$ figures:

Who in their right mind would sign multi-million contracts on alpha-samples of a product that might take countless itinerations tweaking it into what your own engineers have developped so far? Mind you: POET is “only” a component maker...

Gimme a break! Just like many of you I’m tired of reading about your wet dreams. Reality doesn’t disappear when you close your eyes. POET is moving at breakneck speed. This deserves admiration rather than moaning. Yes, the world is more coplex than we desire, but let’s face it: POET is depending on a chain of things : suppliers, develoment partners, enduser acceptance etc.  – and they all have their own timelines.

If POET delivers it will all fall in place one day, irrespective of the colour of the OI matching the color of your wife’s handbag, by the way J

So cheer up, let the warrants get out of the way, enjoy the OFC and look forward to great things to come. It’s not in our hands anyway.
