I don't really care what it’s about in detail. I mean the general communication principle about whatever it is. Let’s say the company is aiming for [Foobar], where [Foobar] is a placeholder for whatever the company wants to achieve. Provided the company wants to inform their shareholders about that project at all, the communication could look like this:
- “We want to do [Foobar] and we want to do it by [date].”
- Interim status (repeatedly if necessary): “Everything is going well to achieve [Foobar] as planned by [date].”
- At [date]: “We have achieved [Foobar].”
If and as soon as any material changes occur:
- “There are difficulties. We are now expecting to reach [Foobar] by [new date].”
- Or: “We have cancelled the [Foobar] project, because …”
- Or: “We have shelved the [Foobar] project, because …”
In short: If you want to inform your shareholders about something, keep them informed in a timely manner!
