Hollydurg,

The above statement is a little misleading. As stated by others it means that Poet was finished with the design on their side. Samples are ordered by our customers and then sent to their customers for validation of the product. If it meets their needs a PO will be placed.

Here is a excerpt from Zack's most recent report: It is also important to know when talking about production that SPX and Poet are separate:

SPX customers are still in the design-in phase. We believe one of the module makers ordered a small number of optical engines from SPX to be put into a module and sent to its customers for qualification. It is expected that by the end of Q1 or early Q2 SPX should start getting some additional purchase orders from their customers.

Revenue during 2023 for POET will be of NREs. Initial samples of higher-speed optical engines being combined into modules for 400/800 and 1.6T are expected to be going to customers throughout the year. Product revenue for POET should begin to ramp up in 2024.

POET now considers its 100G, 200G, and 400G solutions legacy products that are mostly being handled by its joint venture and it is now only getting involved if certain custom work is needed. It has set its sights on higher-end technology and faster speeds of 800G, 1.6T, and 3.2T.

So we didn't get a NR about samples being shipped for production. In my opininion though it would not surprise me to have a NR for one of the module makers to place an order with Poet/ SPX in the next 1 to 3 months stating number of units and a dollar fugure. Just my take.
