I was of the opinion that "chips" would be better understood than optical modules and so on.

Let's face this. The Optical Interposer is the only integration platform that is agnostic to the material system that any given device is built from, meaning that POET can select the ‘best of breed' for the specific application rather than trying to do everything in silicon or any other material. This distinctive feature of the POET Optical Interposer technology means that they can address applications that conventional free-space optics or traditional silicon photonics cannot. I truly believe that POET represents the future of photonics integration. POET's chips deliver superior performance at industry leading cost, form factor and scale with wafer scale passive assembly.
