Let's compare charts... Below are 6 months charts for LWLG, RKLY, and POET.
POET management can't predict the market and it would be foolish to try. So what is POET's position of strength?
The disruptive nature of POET’s Optical Interposer Technology. The ability to integrate electronics and photonics in a CMOS friendly fabrication flow at very high volumes. An automated process that does not require time consuming and costly manual inputs.
A proven technology with numerous high value applications…It is well diversified to address continually evolving needs by industry and achieve this without the long lead times typically required.
Symplicity
Low cost
High performance
The smallest footprint that meets module form factor requirements for very high data transfer rates needed for the data center, AI, machine learning, mobile applications and so on.
Fully integrated wavelength division multiplexing that provides data centers the ability to upgrade capacity without the need to expand fiber and power plants.
High volume capacity through the Sanan JV can be expanded anywhere in the world using standard equipment and processes at a fraction of the cost of existing approaches.
Uses low cost bulk silicon wafers.
Integrates the best material sets available for active devices built by companies that specialize in those devices. Thus producing a new market for companies who want to be part of the POET ecosystem.
POET is now being recognized by the silicon photonics industry to have the ability to provide very low loss remote laser sources with significant advantages and benefits not otherwise available for CPO. Intel’s dilemma of whether to liquid cool the ASIC package or suffer leakage in trying to move photons from a remote light source. POET has that figured out for them with an extremely efficient light bar.
And most importantly…POET technology is ready for volume production and at the lowest cost available to industry.
The other two RKLY and LWLG are often used as our industry benchmark and they are so far unable to meet the requirements for commercial deployment. But they were both able to capture the market's attention in a big way and some might say they had a position of strength but there is nothing commercially viable to back them up.
