You want an example of my prediction. I made mention of the fact that they are using mature active devices that have been qualified and as such the qualification time by the companies receiving the beta's could be fast tracked and would in many cases be less than the 3 to 6 months people here were talking about (which are typically the time  frames used for acceptance testing).

These beta samples are important because they meet spec and they are the ones that customers will use for reliability testing which takes you know about, couple of months, three to six months in some cases.

And I believe that some companies will be satisfied with even less time than Tom's clarification. Again the lasers are operating at lower power levels because of the high efficiency of the optical interposer.
