No, I don't think there will be a short squeeze. I think the short will cover at some point in the future with their long position if this is what is happening. In the meantime the short will accumulate his long position at this lower price until retail sellers who need to sell or feel compelled to sell have been shaken out.

The whole point of listing on the NASDAQ was that news was being wasted on the Venture. I believe there is big news coming and POET needs to be positioned on the NASDAQ with all ducks lined up when that happens. Why else would they have uplisted at this time?
