Turr, just to be the devil's advocate, if we look at weapon system development, the west seems willing to fall behind. Both Russia and China have functional hypersonic missle systems in play. The US has been unable/unwilling to keep pace, so, it is possible they may well fall behind in this race as well.

POET will forge ahead with their plan based on where the best opportunity lies.
