On closer reading of the reference post it seems clear that I misread the earlier post here on Agoracom referring to Dr. Michael Hochberg.

Looking at it again it is pretty obvious that the author was definitely talking about Celestial AI and not referring to POET except with the glancing reference to "this realm of POET". I was mistaken in my analysis of the author's post. Clearly mistaken.

As for who actually is the Director of Research and Development for POET in China, that depends on whether you are talking about POET's Shenzhen location in China or the JV with Sanan in Fujian Province: SPX. If we are strictly talking about POET's Shenzhen office in Guangdong Province, then Kangping Zhong has been Director of R&D since January, 2021.

Zhong isn't exactly small potatoes himself, coming from MACOM as a staff photonics engineer, having worked for MACOM for over 3 years.

In regards to the JV with Sanan Optoelectronics Company, Super Photonics (SPX), the same position ( Director of R&D ) was announced earlier this year as being the job of Dr. Yonghong Hu , who was formerly with HiSilicon, Huawei and Oclaro.
