I am inclined to think that any 'design wins' within the 5 customers that Poet is currently engaged with is already there (inherent) in terms of the spectrum of co-development happening between all parties. SV has always said that Poet is working in parallel on projects. TM said in the last podcast that Poet and its customers will need to come up with the right wording (context) to announce any design wins. What people might not realize is that Poet is probably dealing with companies that have product that sells in the hundreds of millions to billions annually. It is very competitive and Poet's customers must time the release of their information when their new product lines roll out for a successful launch after committing big bucks to revamp their product lines. It is a big deal and it needs to be targeted and timed with flawless execution.
Poet aims to be a leader in many verticals since its technology is 'flexible'. At the 'wafer level' you have flexibility to rejig about anything in photonics, I believe. Does LWLG only have one main application at the moment that is very lucrative? How many applications will Poet come out with that will be lucrative? The Needham presentation shows those categories (pillars). It will take only one significant 'design win' announcement, perhaps in an industry that people already are accustomed to understanding, to get the momentum going. Poet is that close now, I believe.
