Being that announcement is over a decade old and the commercialization phase didn't happen at that time or amount to much.Their product was still a ways off.
Consumers want faster everything. Companies want to provide it to you at a larger profit margin. Lightwave appears to have solved part of this puzzle. Poet is a more complete solution. And thank you for the insight regarding plastic issues over time.
If I understand correctly Poets product does all of the above at a reduced cost and more efficiently. It can also be implemented and replaced when the time comes without any degradation to the existing product. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thermal stability has always been the biggy. The ability to operate at very high speed and low power should be driving industry adoption but it appears not to be happening.
