Suresh explains his strategy very clearly in the Needham presentation.  Sensing and LIDAR are amongst the verticles to be pursued by POET but not as a priority.  Rockley is not a concern unless they can compete a similar price to the POET OI.  Personally I think Suresh priority choice is correct to focus on datacom and AI.

POET is on the cusp of the commercialisation of its products and when they are better known in the market for the disruptive OI in terms of its cost/performance benefits, I feel they have a formula that will be able to become a major contender in a market that is large enough to absorb many providers. Rockley are yet to come up jwith the goods.  So I am not sure why you are somewhat enamoured by them when clearly POET appears to be ahead in the development stakes.

But there you go Galahad 'you pays your money and makes your choices'.  I sold our eight year old Fiat 500 and invested the proceeds in PTK and for once in my whole history of investing in POET my timing seemed good, hittimg the bottom of a dip in SP, goodness am I getting better at this game, or was my judgement that with the OFC promises of reveals and demonstrations in early June and the various on line conferences all clear indicators that management were planning a surge to take advantage of. For me Rockley quitting the scene datacom to focus on LiDAR seems a bit wobbly despite their forthcoming public offering.
