I suspect they have some sort of agreement in place, that means they have to present at these conferences.  I'd also imagine they'd rather not do them, since as you point out, they are largely insignificant.  

That said it could be arugued that the last two have drawn fresh eyes onto POET and this was in part why the SP rose as it did, when the positive news started to flow.
