My take:

Lille Poet is much too big for any of these "monolith companies". 
A take-over bid would immediately start an endless bidding war. And they know that.
So the only way for them is to start cooperating with Poet.
They can work with POET, or try different technologies. The best will win.

 

By the way, no one took over ARM, and no one even tried, right?
