Platform number 2:

The present application builds upon technology (referred to by the Applicant as “Planar Optoelectronic Technology” or “POET”) that provides for the realization of a variety of devices.

GaAs

Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) is the semiconductor compound, or Aluminum Gallium Arsenide (AIGaAs), which would probably be used for electron confinement.
