Aiming to become the global leader in chip-scale photonic solutions by deploying Optical Interposer technology to enable the seamless integration of electronics and photonics for a broad range of vertical market applications

Dec 24: When asked if POET is  on it's way.  My response.

POET has achieved a number of  industry firsts and are working  with the biggest global companies. It is  still going to  take time to put mass production into  place but yes they can integrate optics into very high growth applications associated with data communications. This has been demonstrated and is not  just a hypothetical any more.

If there is anything rational about the market we should be on our way. Wafer  scale production of  optical integration has never been achieved in anything that can be commercialized before. This is  a first and it is real. POET has the solution that everyone needs. Low cost and high performance.

The cat appears to be out of the bag. POET has been discovered by significant buyers. I always believed that it was just a matter of time before this happeed. Certainly this high value research report identifying POET as a major player has helped.

So the technology achieves a level of optical connectivity in an automated fabrication flow that has never been achieved before and it does this at the lowest cost available (not by a little but by a lot). There is no platform technology that produces the level of performance that is enabled by POET. Suresh has taken the most advanced packaging technologies developed primarily for high end cell phones and added an optical layer. This optical layer is at the surface of the multi-chip-module to route light into and out of the chips required to create and manipulate light.  It does this at very small feature size and it does this without leaking light. The best optical platforms today leak a lot of light upwards of 50% is lost in today's state of the art.

Long story short is that this is a breakthrough and is needed to extend Moore’s law.

That being said I believe POET will become the dominant technology that is used worldwide by industry. Suresh is big brain. And like most big brains he would prefer not having to deal with shareholders. He is built to   focused on the technology  and thinks way ahead of the crowd and loves to create.  I think he is just getting warmed up. I see POET having a dominant role in AI and edge computing. I was able  to talk to him one-on-one a few times. When he first recognized the capability of  the dielectric stack to  manipulate light in a parallel path to the electrical interconnects (the foundation of the platform) he was really excited to talk  about this and right off the bat said that everyone would want to  use this  capability. That was March 6, 2018 at a D-Wave presentation at the Empire Club.
