Message: Hey look, SP does not move

I'm going to submit another theory on our share price action:

My first assumption is that outside of this board, there is insufficient knowledge amongst the investor universe about Poet.

Second assumption is that the share price has acted pretty similarly for years on release of good news - pop and drop.

Third assumption is that some who post and visit this board, over the many years, have decided to use the (established) pattern of fits and starts in the share price, and thus have segregated a percentage of their holdings as "trading shares."  When you consider the number of shares many have accumulated here over the years, 10-20% of one's position designated as trading shares is a big number in comparison with the daily volume of Poet shares traded.

My theory, then, is that every time "good" news is released, these folk are ready to sell their traders as soon as they are satisfied with the gain on those shares, slowing or halting any upward move.  They will then replenish their traders when the price (inevitably) drifts back down.

I'd venture to say many Agoracomers have trading shares in the 5,000-20,000 share area - it would not take too many to sell into a rally to quell it.  Rather than intentionally squelching a rallly, as most would like to see the vast majority of their shares keep rising in price, it is an unintended consequence of the overall low volume of share trading in Poet.  One of these days, the news will be such that the price will keep rising, but until then, it's an effective way to make some money on trading, and it's fun.  Is it lucrative?  Not in my estimation, as the profit is too small - what can a guy make with 20,000 traders?  $500 or $600 if they hit it pretty well right?  And you might get half a dozen or so chances a year to do it?

Like my last theory, I am not saying the above is more likely than not, it's merely another attempt to explain what appears to be the counter-intuitive (disappointing) movement of the share price as many, myself at the top of that list, have lamented.
