I think it was more like $26 million. And if you were an investor in the consortium for this deal, how would you view paying 90% or so of what was agreed, but having Poet then shop around and already come up with another serious suitor? 

Imagine if some of the posters here had been on the consortium side! Talk about demanding a law suit and talking about being played for a chump!  

I don't think either side got any more "played" than was their initial anticipation.  The reputation, deserved or not, of Chinese business and renegotiation is well recognized, if not totally accepted, by many. I doubt that circumstance wasn't on Suresh'a radar going into the deal.
