Message: NA tier 1 partner/customer

Hi Gerem, I found that interesting as well, I've transcribed that portion

Approximately 23 minutes in, during Q&A

Q - How is the progress with your tier 1 North American customer?

TM - “That’s an excellent question.  We are now placed in category like other vendors and we are competing for business with other suppliers of lasers and other devices, and frankly we think we have a built in advantage there because what we would deliver is lasers that are aligned on a __?__ .  But because it’s a tender there’s not very much more I can say about that nor as usual can I identify who that North American customer is”

My read of the above comments is that whatever Poet is supplying to the tier 1, it has already passed an initial evaluation stage where they are qualified to bid on supply of products, and are competing with other suppliers to get the contract(s).  TM implies that due to POET’s process and/or cost structure, they have a leg up on the competition.  Not sure what TM said where I have a ?, maybe someone can check and fill it in.

Related to this, seems to me the JV 400G carve out is not only intended for our tier 1, but also direct sales to other customers as seen on the Joint Venture Model illustrated on slide 7 I've uploaded to the photos section.  Interesting, the slide lists carve out potential customers as Delta, HiSense, Molex, Accton, Accelink, Huali, Huawei, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple and AliBaba, but no mention of Cisco here.  IMO its likely POET's product goes through someone like Cisco before making into the hands of some of the big customers, while others may use the 400G optical engines in their own offerings.

It would be nice to see news on this front.
