Anyhow, I do not understand all this fuss about this delay...

Worse case is that POET will keep a 20% stake of DL - which would strengthen the mutual relationship between both companies.

I am expecting NRE payments of Tier1 within the next months, so I do not think Poet really would need the last part of the payment urgently. And If/when this payment arrives, I expect Poet to invest the sum.
