Excellent work Monk and of course ITTR adding to the playing field. We are certainly talking about the biggest companies in the world. POET 2018 summed it up very well in his post. But let me shed a little bit of light based on what Suresh has talked about.

POET is firmly focused on bringing a 100G CWDM optical engine to the market. It is a capability that even giant companies are struggling with and is the driver behind the early adoption of first generation 100G that does not provide CDWM. Suresh made a point of advising us that China in general has been holding out for the second generation optical engine which includes CWDM rather than the stop gap of PSM4 based optical engines which have both much shorter reach and uses 4 times more fiber.

Let me also propose the following scenario. There are other giants in that part of the world in the playing field. It would be interesting to consider the possibility that there could be competing interests that are not just between the east and west but also within East Asia.

It is going to be so interesting to see how this plays out.  If POET is unable to satisfy all competing companies I both fear the outcome and look forward to it.
