See this link to a video from the recent OFC conference held in the first week of March. Benny Mikkelsen from Acacia gives a presentation on Electro-Photonic Integration.
It’s about 33 minutes long and is time well-spent IMO - very educational.

Some key times and content highlights/points:
Talk starts at 1:15
At about 5:35, discussion of extension of Moore’s law on the electrical side, with required creativity on the Optical side to keep up.
At 7:45, discussion of methods to integrate electronics and photonics - monolithic and heterogeneous/co-packaging (including the interposer concept)
At 8:45, opportunities for Electro-Photonic Integration throughout the network from the end device through to the server in a data centre, and ultimately on-board optics.
At 12:00, a description of a coherent transceiver
At 12:40, a comparison of InP and Silicon Photonics approaches for integrated transceivers - pros and cons
At 14:30, progression of integration advances over time and trends in improving power, costs and size/100Gb
At 22:00, opportunities inside the data centres including 400G PAM4
At 24:30, challenges between the switches and the front panels
At 26:45, options for improved switch performance (illustrations on Slide 22 etc. seem to be very in-line with Poet’s concept for the interposer as a sub-component helping improve integration and reduce losses and issues with temperature control)
Wondering if any of the tech savvy members have any comments when comparing this content with the recent Company Overview slides posted on the Poet website in March, as well as the discussions on the recent IBK investors conference call.
