At a very basic level I believe this was a deal put together to avoid another financing. Possibly Silterra (or substitute your favorite partner here), liked what they saw in the O.I. and wanted an edge over the competition. Buying their way to the front of the line, so to speak.

All good news IMHO and Cheers to management for not diluting  shareholders to oblivion!!
