One thing that Mr. Mika said that I recall from his very first conference call as a PoET employee is that stock prices sometimes can run rapidly upwards 12 to 18 months before significant revenue. The key here being "significant". So take that for what it is worth. 

What I would like to add to that paraphrase is that if what is anticipated is to become very real and the confidence in the company is very high, then you will get a very high share price; if you are first mover, you get the share premium.
