Message: POET - Moving Forward

To me the announcements and financial report were positive and call for patience.  I can’t help but repeat some of the posts here, (there have been so many with great analysis).   I had the feeling SV was thinking, “If you guys knew what I know, (but can’t disclose because of NDA’s), you would be enthusiastic too".  He seemed genuinely excited about progress, and surly if we had negative results (developments & tests) they would have been reported to investors.  Time-line wise we do seem to be moving along just about how SV projected.

It looks like we need a relatively small amount of capital to get us through production and testing phases for our customers.  I don’t know if we are expecting a payment from the Singapore Economic Development Board.   I do know we have an agreement with them and we certainly seem to have increased  staff in accordance with that agreement.

Exercising of outstanding warrants would do the trick but to get them in the money we would need a share price run-up like we had earlier this year.   As I recall, it started about 2 weeks after the announcement of the interposer.  At the time I thought it just took that much time for investors to digest it.  Our product is a business to business but investors need to understand POET has the elegant solution that data centers will buy.  I believe the interposer is very much more de-risked now than it was at that time.  Obviously that would be my preferred method to fund POET if needs be as it would be non-dilutive.  The SP seems very low now compared to our material developments and customers (too bad SV couldn’t add clarity to our customer base).

If it means success for POET and shareholders,  I would not be against a small capital raise.  Non-dilutive if possible, and I believe there are creative ways to do it.  I also believe we have investors and members of our BOD with the wherewithal to pull it off.

The optical side of the transceiver have been a limiting factor in increasing speeds and density of data transfer in the data center.   I believe the POET interposer with our proprietary embedded dielectric wave guides will provide the higher integration, speeds, and density the industry needs. It is an elegant, low cost solution, representing a very large part of a transceiver.  It is no less than the interface between the optics and electronics in a transceiver.

In my opinion, the POET Optical Interposer Architecture is the leading contender for industry adoption.

Dr. Ben Chen, Technical Director of the Datacom & Access Product Department at Accelink stated, “POET’s Optical Interposer platform is a step-change advancement compared to other approaches in gaining lower cost of integration and offering a superior method to scale-up to the higher data rates demanded by our customers.  We look forward to working with POET to develop and qualify this technology.  Upon successful qualification, we believe we will have an opportunity to gain rapid penetration into key customers and markets, based on both cost and performance advantages.”

I too appreciate the great posts, contributions made here.   This Board is like no other I have ever seen.

In the interest of continuing with the intriguing POET story, I will be attending the SPIE Show in SF, early next year.  I think we will know a lot more by then.   Actually, I really enjoy those shows, they are just so interesting.   Of all things, my oldest son made a photonics related presentation for his work at the SPIE Show in San Diego last Summer. I couldn’t make it to see him but he said it went great.  (I believe it)

I thought I’d send a link to a video, made by Coherent.  My one of my other sons works there.  I have lots of them (3).   I found it extremely interesting and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Mostly just for weekend entertainment.  It does feature the department  he works in. It is only about 2 minutes long.  Hope you enjoy it

Impressive company!  With PR like that you can’t go wrong.  I like the video format.  We (POET) could do something like that.

Cheers, and Happy Holidays coming up.  I have to get my Xmas tree too (what fun).   Go POET  :  )   BT
