In the linked post I made this reference:
They have projected 2019 revenue to be $50 million…slide 15 of the Sept investor presentation (*Serviceable Available Market (SAM) based on forecast shipment data and expected pricing for POET Optical Engines).
I need to correct that statement. The message that was intended by the company with that slide was to reveal the POTENTIAL within a SINGLE customer, so that people could understand that it only takes a couple or few customers to build a major company and to do it relatively quickly.
It should also be recognized that customers always have multiple sources in their supply chain and never give 100% of their production to a single supplier. Over time a single supplier may achieve 50% penetration into the supply chain of any one customer.
There will be a number of steps to get into the supply chain of major companies but the bottom line is this: What POET has achieved in the last 18 months on a shoestring budget is nothing short of extraordinary.
As per OZ’s recent post:
management and the teams are executing perfectly.
As we speak our first selling product, the 100G ROE module, is in the process of transformation becoming product No:2 for CWDM2 modulation, product No:3 for LR4 modulation and product No:4 for PAM modulation. Only minor modifications are needed to do so and If all goes as planned I would think that sampling starts in december bringing additional monies and costumers.
But yes it takes time to assess the new situation, after all a Photonics 100G ROE module is now sampling, something the IBM’s, Intel’s of this world haven’t accomplished.
