Thanks, novogus, for bringing the PIC Awards to our attention!

The PIC Awards will be presented at the PIC International Conference, on April 10, 2018, Brussels. They will be rewarding Excellence, Innovation, and Success in the Photonics Industry

If you go to the link novogus gave us, it will take you straight to the voting, and Bill Ring is listed on the ballot there. If you have an email address that is NOT from a third party host, ie. Yahoo, Gmail, Comcast, etc., you CAN vote. I was able to vote for Bill Ring. I hope he wins.

Dr Ring certainly has done a lot for POET, (dielectric waveguides and I would think our new Optical Interposer Platform amongst others) and was legendary before that. He designed lasers that went into every Hewlett Packard 1310 Transceiver (1990's, - present) and was responsible for the Strained MQW (multiple quantum well) that enabled a lot of business for HP. I believe he was a speaker on behalf of POET at the last PIC Conference. This award is quite an honor. The latest I heard he was working in Wales, at the Photonics Center there. In my opinion, really a good guy (and really, really smart too).
