Small companies are not well researched and for those who are prepared to burrow down into the workings of small caps there are rewards to be gained.

So says Tom Stevenson a director of Fidelity International in an article in yesterday's Daily Telegraph Business Section.

This board's moles have served us well and  what emerges from their energetic pursuit of POET knowledge is a company that verges on delivering the commercialisation of its initial tranche of integrated optical electric devices. A production ramp up appears to be progress and 2018 is likely to be a year when results are delivered.  

Curiously, we seem to be at peak time for those wishing to invest. Yet, timing is everything in investment and most of us must be kicking ourselves that we could have played it better, but I sense we shall end this year glad to be a part of this adventure.

I would invest more but then I'm more like Mother Hubbard these days and very happy to have what I have in the autumn years of life. So the old sea dog had none.

This venture opportunity is far from over and more pragmatism would help those feeling so glum.
