Which begs the question why they would not provide that info. There are of course a number of possibilities for this:
It has been speculated that there is more than just POET involved.
An alternative possibility is that they have someone else interested in the POET GaAs platform and are using India for bargaining leverage. But I think they really want a deal with India so they can keep control of the commercial applications.
Another point which is being talked about is of course that a deal with India would come with upfront money. To my way of thinking POET knows how much time it takes for decisions to be made by the Indian Government so it makes me wonder whether they would hang their hat financially in getting a significant upfront payment. Makes me wonder whether they don't already have some commitments for money from a commercial partner(s) for the InP/Dielectric platform. Why I say this is that I would have expected POET to have a Line of Credit in place by now if there was not some guarantee of cash/resources to accelerate the introduction of dielectric optical engine to the datacom transceiver market.
I have sent an email suggesting that it would be a good idea for POET to provide a letter to shareholders as a general update:
I was wondering if there are any thoughts to provide a small update maybe in the form of a letter to shareholders to give some indication of the accomplishments achieved this year in transforming the DL facility. Many are awaiting word on the Indian RFP so maybe some indication of how that is proceeding would be a boost to people’s confidence that the GaAs platform has future value.
I do believe that shareholders would really appreciate any effort that POET management could provide this time of the year as Christmas approaches.
