Message: proposal for completion of 4th terminal

Thank you, oogee, for your post regarding thyristors, transistors, and the maturity of the POET platform. Indeed, the hurdles for achieving the four-terminal thyristor are not unsurmountable, nevertheless they pose a challenge that costs time and money to overcome – unfortunately more time and money than POET has at hand at this time.

POET has two options:

  • Proceeding with the GaAs platform alone and funding it from cash flow generated by the InP platform. However, this would delay development until enough such funding is available.
  • Proceeding with the GaAs platform together with a strategic partner. The partner would fund development now (or soon :-)) instead of some time in the future. This is the way POET management prefers. Of course the partner would want to have his piece of the cake, probably are larger piece if the partner is a company, and perhaps a smaller one if the partner is a public research institute or something.
