No, the thyristor VCSEL is just a VCSEL based on POET's thyristor technology. The VCSEL transceiver, however, is a transceiver consisting of VCSEL, detector, and electronics.

And, yes, we never heard of BICFETs in relation to the VCSEL transceiver. Since they are transistors, I think they belong of the eletronics part of the VCSEL transceiver.
