Yes, if you are an esteemed expert in any given subject you run into in danger of overconfidence and believe you are able to master a very different subject easily. Maybe this has happened here.

And maybe Thomas Mika saw the mess that was going on and therefore intentionally came on board only after the PO was done – in order to not be made responsible for the disaster.
