Opportunityknocks: I believe the current management doesn't fear any sort of takeover …
I don't know what management fears or what they don't fear. However, sometimes we should better fear something and protect ourselves, and sometimes fear is completely unjustified and any countermeasures would only be a waste of time and money.
Regarding a hostile takeover (or any other risk, by the way), management should have carefully evaluated occurrence probability and maximum amount of damage, and have taken appropriate action.
As I said already in another post, they might have come to the conclusion that the new Canadian legislation is good enough for us. If that is the case, that would be fine for me.
Anyway, whatever their reasoning was – and I am assuming that they have considered the prolongation of the SRP at all – they should have communicated that reasoning to the shareholders.
Respect is always a something mutual.
