Could this highly speculative investment fail?  OMG, how can such a thing ever happen!  There has never been a really GOOD reason to think that the chance of this company succeeding exceeds the chance of them failing (disrupt a trillion dollar industry, no problem, gotcha covered, what's next!).  But over the years, big time success has been a given, and has warped many of our minds.  I believe our perspective is way off here.  Of course, there's still a chance for great success, but only a chance.  Based on my overall investing experience and my experience with POET over many years, I would be happy with, and settle for, modest success.

On a related note, I finally think I understand why progress is (seems) so slow - and I base that on the last two or three days of posts, the strong implication of which is that apparently, management is spending all of their time figuring out how to screw the commons shareholders and grab most all of the pot for themselves.  Think about it - that has to be very time consuming, all those discussions, meetings with securities lawyers to figure just how far they can go, etc.  They also have to figure how best to combat the retai shareholders when, inevitably, they come after the company and management with lawyers, torches and pitchforks.

As a result, management likely can't sleep well, and that certainly slows things down; we all know how well we function when sleep-deprived, right?

Long ago, right here on this board, a "promise" was given (kind of a collective promise, perhaps like an economic "social contract"), the gist of that promise being that we would be very, very successful (oh, and rich).  And, to be honest, there were times when even current management fanned those flames, of course, "up and to the right," etc., but I feel that due to all of the above, retail has a distorted view.  My own view becomes distorted once in a while, but just watching the share price serves to bring things back into focus pretty quickly.

Good luck to all of us!
