Maybe the "ex-employee" was not fired but rather left the company on his/her own accord.

Perhaps the "ex-employee" was more of a contractor and the contract ran out.

The potential for who this could be runs from PC to CC.

It really is who is the "ex-employee" that matters in terms of the value of the comments.
