Posting emoticons fails

It seems the Agoracom application has problems with emoticons and probably other Unicode characters, too. I just tried to post a message with a Unicode smiley (Unicode character 1F602). I can't include it here for obvious reasons.

The character showed up properly in the preview, but upon submitting my post, an error message appeared: "We're sorry, but something went wrong. If you are the application owner check the logs for more information."
