"My guess and hope is that they intentionally got them out ASAP so that they would have the 2016 loss behind them and enough time to announce NRE and or contracts before AGM. More important getting the 2016 negative income out of the way will mean the forthcoming announcement(s) will stand on their own without a negative halo from 2016 earnings"

Jets, good a guess as any, but I suspect they got them out ASAP so that JacktheBear would have to modify his mantra, at least somewhat; the company, too, was sick of reading the same friggin thing over and over again.
