Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm somewhat, o4m2, but DenseLight did not take an active part in this project. The researchers just bought a SLED from DenseLight (plus another SLED from Covega, plus a supercontinuum source from Fianium) in order to run their experiment.

Nevertheless this shows nicely an application domain for SLEDs: detecting trace amounts of gases and especially in breath. While this is great, I am still waiting for the POET VCSEL transceiver and detector, not necessarily in that order and not this year (2016, to be clear ;-)).
