There are some obvious red flags here today. Most notably, the reputation and history of the "agents" involved in this deal. Are they simply the ones offering the cheapest terms?
I find it almost impossible to believe that people with the credentials and history of our BOD would undertake such shocking business...the kind class action lawsuits are built on. It flies such in the face of convention...I have to believe there's something more to this. The timing is obviously strategic too...getting the bad news out on a Friday. Clearly, they KNEW exactly what would happen. They KNEW exactly what the reaction would be. And yet, they proceeded regardless. It's either a function of desperation (from circumstances that won't be made public), or a play that requires more strategy, more secrecy that we aren't aware of. Herein lies the risk and frustration of tech investing...the unknown.
The reverse merger theory is an interesitng one. Is it possible that a private company, which may be a threat or competitor of POET, simply HAS to be acquired or absorbed? And if so, might that require a more favourable SP? The timing of the US exchange filing might have something to do with this. In any event, we will find out EXACTLY how smart our BOD truly is over the next couple of weeks. Because why else would they need capital, at a time when revenue is supposedly close, and they are getting 7.7 mil from the Singapore grants?
What I'm not going to do is kneejerk into the emotional "this is it, the story is over" type stuff. If you've decided to leave, fine. That's it. You've made your mind up. But trying to drag people with you is a bit pointless. There's enough to digest today already.
