Rainer re: "However, communication is not their profession. They are not with POET to improve the company's communication. Their profession and their task at POET is to further the technology and to further the business. If they execute in these regards it should be sufficient for us."
Respectfully, I think in general, we may give management too much forgiveness for their lack of communication, and more so their lack of clarity when they try to communicate. We need proof points, and before we get more of them, we only have management's words to go by. Communication is not just about the frequency of updates, but also the content and we should not have to do so much guessing. For example, I read something and think, is that a one year delay? Turns out it is not, I think.
As far as "They are not with POET to improve the company's communication". Initially they stated that communication had been an issue and that they planned to improve it, so I suspect they should be improving this (it is their responsibility). I am thrilled to have such smart people working on the technology. However, that is only part of the job, albeit a huge part of what will ultimately lead to success if they execute.
My point? We are not fully informed, not even close. This is not just about NDA's either. If most of what we get are words, it would be nice to be able to understand what these words mean, and not have so many contradictions from statements made recently. We can't dismiss failed communication because they are great Scientists.
We can state that the fundamentals have not changed (negatively), but in hindsight do we even really understand what these fundamentals are (or were)? How do we know whether or not they have changed? The timelines have certainly changed. I understand this is a difficult task, and things do change. I just wish POET management would not say a lot of the things they do, if they are likely to change. Just say nothing. Having said that, I am still here and I assume things are progressing, but I will let the SP do the talking for me, and when it rebounds, I will notice that, and eventually may say job well done.
Good luck, still optimistic but very frustrated, and borderline angry. Hoping for greener pastures, and "soon" (i.e. not years).
Also, thanks for everything you do on this board, especially sticking to facts and keeping discussions level headed.
