To have what they call prototype ready by the end of the year, they would have to tape-out some time before that. Since the tape-out is an announced milestone (for Q3, by the way) I wouldn't be too surprised about a news release.

BTW, VCSEL unfortunately lost 0:2 against VSCEL in your post, Gilver. Just saying …
