The AOC is but one story in the life of PTI and is undoubtedly what is known in the military as 'the main aim' but my purpose in this post is to point out that there are many other scenarios runiing for PTI's success concerningother business objectives which get little attention here and are not part of the briefings and news reports that inform us of. Others are the development of products arising from PTI's recent acquisitions and the outcome of ventures, both old and new, entered into by PTI with e.g. ISTAR, Synopsis and BAE. We are kept in the dark but they are never the less a part of PT's development and therefore part of the factors why we should be invested in POET or not. Where do we stand?

When Eileen posted here as a marketing executive in the a Hi Tech industry, she reminded us of the complexity, secrecy and rapidly changing nature of the technical business world that POET inhabits. For me this indicates that there will always be a part of the PTI conversation that is conducted in secrecy and deliberately set beyond our awareness. I believe that it is the company's silence on such issues that speaks loudly. There is a danger of me being too near speculation here but until there are clear explanation or certain facts that emerge countering what evidence that does exists, I will continue to hold my particular chestnut as we are dealing here with the world of probabilities. There remains the probability that a major industry player is involved with PTI.

Lets consider the '40 engineer deal' echoing comments by Peter Coppetti at London. Prior to the change in direction of 30 Sep 15, PTI's principle focus was delivering PET and low hanging fruit. It was made quite clear that work was being conducted to meet targets and proof of mass manufacture for a major industry player. Then, due to the announcement of the formation of the TRAB and the participation of Tony Blevins in particular, we took this to be a clear indication that that major player was Apple. This created a level of excitement that has since died downbeing subsumed and overshadowed by the focus AOC progress.

We should however notice that at all briefings SV deals with potential enquiries into the nature of the special relationship with key industry players, by pre-announcing at each briefing that he is not prepared to discuss contractual business relationships. And quite right too, if indeed we are dealing with the most secretive company in the world. My point is that if that relationship did not exist why go through all that trouble to stymie discussion of the subject if such a relationship did not exist. Surely if it did not exist an honest answer would simply be that there is no relationship. This behaviour alone leads me places the probability that such a relationship does exist into the possible. There are many other indications including the aside for PC that interference from retail investors presented difficulties that were hard to smooth over.

Let me offer one other quote by Ajit Monacha related to the role of the new CEO.:

So its reasonable to conclude from the above statement that indeed there were key industry partnerships to be closed by SV or are we talking about Denselight and BB.The question is was a relationship entered into with Apple over PET that allowed SV to focus on the photonic side of things and Apple to develop PET. If such a deal was concluded would it not also be reasonable to assume that given the progress of the more complex POET optical initiative with the AOC that the less complex PET initiative developed by a '40 engineer' deal might also be near maturing or indeed included in a Apple product.

For me what happened to PET and the 18 months or so of priority work devoted to it by PTI in 2014 and 2015 is a Marie Celeste mystery that needs to be resolved, I cannot believe that this work simply sank in the Bermuda Triangle or the relationship with Synopsys and BAE amounted to nothing and no expanations given. I like mysteries; did the crew just abandon ship or was it taken over by a mystery crew and is it about to reappear on the closely observed horizon.

None of this can have the concrete feel of yesterday's update but that is what one would exoect if PET was developed in secrecy.
