Gilver: Ajit was once in-charge of Global Foundaries (over 25,000 employees) and Suresh was from a very large public company called Applied Materials (the go-to place for semi-conductor companies).
Not quite. Ajit came from GlobalFoundries, Suresh also came from GlobalFoundries, and Subhash is the one who came from Applied Materials.
Part of the problem is likely that GlobalFoundries is not a publically listed company. No disclosure requirements, no communications with the (stock) market, no having to mess around with retail shareholders. And Suresh's role as senior vice president, technology development, and he was responsible for technology research and development. His tasks were very different from those of a PR department, so where should he get any PR expertise from, let alone in a private company.
Now these people are managing a small company and essentially have to do everything themselves. They don't have a PR department, they don't have anyone caring about PR, and I am afraid they don't even talk enough with their IR guy to keep him informed.
When they process a batch of wafers, they are carefully testing and measuring and characterizing and probing the results in order to see if the changes they made to process parameters had the intended consequences. But how are they checking the results of their efforts to keep shareholders updated? How are they measuring the performance of their communication? Not at all, I'm afraid!
I am certain POET's superior technology will compensate for their inferiour communications, but that's no excuse.
