ABP, you make a defensible point, as does Dash. Here's my only comment: You write, "Yes, and I'm happy to leave it at that." But then you add a few shots at Dash - so you weren't so happy to leave it at that.
My view is that this new management seems to have done a whole lot in the course of a year, and it's only been a year since Suresh and Subhash came on board. I have to say "seems" because I don't really understand the business, let alone the tech. For example, back in late 2014, many, including you I think, thought management was at least acceptable (I remember the comments about PC assuring investors that he was all about shareholder value - and I remember thinking, "oh, geez, talk about a completely canned line"). And all the buzz about a ring oscillator and the other thingamajib - those things were the rage! Well, apparently, we were barking up the wrong tree, and no one really seemed to know it.
Now, we may once again be barking up the wrong tree, as the excitement over what it is that we're doing is not dissimilar to excitement that was generated over various things over the last three or four years. However, in contrast, I think that this time, the excitement is justified, but that feeling is merely from having seen these people in person and getting a sense of purpose and knowledge and experience. Moreover, they seem to be straight shooters (at least for leaders of a public company!!).
Ajit didn't need this POET gig on his resume, and I don't believe he needed it for any regular remuneration he might make (that's not to say that the prospect of making a billion dollars or so may not have been a real incentive!). Seems that Suresh and Subhash were fine where they were, too.
Personnel-wise, it appears the metamorphisis of POET is nearing completion (lots of old fellows out, lots of new fellows in). We are still very much in the midst of a metamorpisis tech-wise and commercial/business direction-wise; at some point, maybe even relatively soon, we are going to either see something of beauty emerge or something rather more plain. I'm hoping beauty and plain are the only two options, but I suppose something truly horrifying could emerge (think, "Rosemary's Baby").
As long as we don't run into a devil-child, no one should get hurt, and that would be a wonderful thing, cuz stocks like this are often all or nothing.
