Dear Zyyd,
I think that you have to accept that two quotes from your post do rather contradict each other.
1. 'the news did not live up to the exuberant expectations that flooded the board'
2. 'The news is GREAT! The company is well on its way to becoming a leader within the industry'.
Personally, I think your second observation rather justifies the exuberance, don't you?, but then I think what you mean was that it was not the news expected (income) and what happened was that we all got rather excited but for the wrong reasons. But then, I personally don't think it really hurts for the board to enjoy the fun once in a while, Dear God there have been some dreary times here trying to be patient. So lets rejoice Alelellulia!
For me the lesson to be learnt from yesterday is that PTI management are delivering on their promises, M&A was signalled to us by management as much as NRE from deals with interested customers has been. The wheel of POET's progress has been levered into movement by this aquisition.
My prediction is that there is more of what has been signalled to come and that yesterdays news was the first shot in the run up to the NASDAQ listing. We are now, as a consequece of the aquisition of deseLight, an income generating company with a more credible capital asset base in the form of skilled engineers in the development of the sort of products that we envisage producing, anow with the captial equipment and the facilities necessary to produce them.
We enter this aquisition with sensitivity results from our detector that are 20 orders of magnitude better than the current best, which augers well for VCSEL results, which we may soon hear about. Management has also signalled advanced negociations for other products that have been discussed with potential customers that clearly will need to be put through the development cycle that the new facilities at DenseLight offers.
I would say that in the eyes of the investing community we have distinctly entered the realms of a production company that is a going concern, in that we do now have income and my guess is that we will soon have NRE for the develoments discussed with potential customers.
All this puts a totaly different complextion of the company in the investing comunity's perception of PTI and POET. If they could only understand what the heck is unique about the POET offering. No doubt that is what the 'Town Hall' briefing will be all about. Think about the excitment raised around the Empire Club briefing and how far we have come since then. Think about how far our true valuation has come since Pelligrino two, think about how much more feasible we now look as a going concern production company and think about the amasing nature of the POET product. I think investors are catching on steadily.
To directly address your lesson about over exuberance I think your point 2 if anything is understated. The news was not GREAT news is was FANTASTIC.
