Dear POET friends,
The News Report of 4 Apr 16 drew significant criticism from this board and we were grateful to Rainer for clarifying the confusions caused at source. Regrettably this did not stop the wailing and gnashing of teeth regarding company communications and the continued criticism of the POET Management team.
I have already said that I find this criticism rather precious in view of the outstanding work our management team is doing, that is abundantly clear from the successful testing of devices created during Wavetech's mass production process where the sensitivity of POET detectors has proved to be off the chart in comparison with current detectors.; soon we will hear of VCSEL performance (that word soon again is with apologies for its wide meaning).
Successfully passing the mass production test is, as you know, the precursor of acceptance of POET Technology by 'Partners waiting on the side-lines'. Whilst getting hot under the collar about confusion about what exactly will be POET's first product, I believe that this has diverted this board's appreciation of what the news report was actually conveying to shareholders and why they could announce Dr Taylors retirement, i.e. THe principle point to be absorbed is that WE PASSED THE MASS PRODUCTION TEST. This will now unleash the deals and revenue stream from NRE we desire. Surely, is this not far more importantnews than whether its VCSEL or Detectors that will be the first POET product andthat Dr Taylor can retire happily knowing his baby has, after a long gestation period, finally been born. We should be trumpeting this truth from the Watch Towers of this board not weeping about comms we are missing the point.
Consider the following quote from the last Conference Call during which we received detailed communication of the company's intentions. (my emboldening)
25:17 – Answer: As we said on September 30th, our plan is to introduce these optical engines – what we call optical engines – they are single-chip monolithically integrated optical transceivers, and for explicit applications in short reach and very short reach data communications in the form of active optical cables, or what are called AOCs. Ahead of that, we will clearly market and sell individual components, like for example the detectors, opportunistically. Not only to drive early revenue, but also to vet our solutions in the market.

My point is that management clearly informed shareholders' during the last CC that they will sell individual components, detectors, ahead of VCSEL. Why I ask should there be any confusion about the same issue when it was stated again in the News Report of 4 Apr 16. My answer to that is that it our own failings to heed what has gone before and not managements lack of word smithing talen. Is it really necessary for them to repeat themselves?
Whilst I agree that every effort must be made by management to make clear statements and avoid confusions, I find the degree of criticism on the board has been totally overblown and disingenuous. I get more cynical of the motives for this sort of behaviour after several years observing the games some play presumably for personal motives.
I strongly feel that something remarkable will happen soon (there's that word again) which will be a consequence of theNews Release of 4 Apr 16. ITs such a pity that we here have spent our time tearing our shirts and beating our breast about content of that NR rather than proclaiming more loudly the performance and achievements it signalled.
Finally, I sense that the timing of Dr Taylor's retirement is because he knows very well that his invention is in good hands. and so should we. Please let us not focus on the minor flaws but on the stunning progress and successes of management which are at the heart of makng POET a stellar investment opportunity.
