The lasers, both vertical and horizontal in the POET process / platform are integrated and also run 'cool'.

In fact the entire POET system runs 'cool', which is why POET boasts the benefit of massively reduced energy consumption (power) which directly reduces the heat generated.

Power is calculated as a square function of voltage. The voltage required in the POET tecnology is significantly less compared to silicon photonics.

For example, Data Centers require huge nitrogen cooling systems, which will be rendered redundant when POET is fully implemented.
