I think the articles conclusions, of which I've cherry picked a few paragraphs below, rather neatly express the rational that excited me into action to invest in OPEL/POET in the first place, over four years ago, others here clearly had the same thoughts.
I take Rickthevet's point but perhaps articles such as this whilst pumping the technology are perhaps the thin end of the wedge of a next best thing style mania that Eileen once quoted.Careful timing in dealing with such mania could yield some benefits.
Yes, it's fascinating to ponder on the outcomes of being an early investor in one firm that seems set to deliver the technological wherewithal to make those dreams that Ivan Lo describes in his article happen. Reading of the many advances elsewhere is not always a comfortable pastime, but then competition SV tells us means that POET is aimed at 'solving the right problems', my discomfort at Gee whizz articles such as this is quelled by the assurance that at least our leaders feel that we are in 'Pole position'.

'Ground Floor Investing
I was lucky to have witnessed just some of these possible changes at the SPIE conference where I saw many photonic technologies in action.
The technologies presented at SPIE are so ground breaking that we don’t even know how to use them yet. As an extremely bright friend told me at the conference, much of what is at SPIE are technologies looking for a solution.
If investing in end consumer products can make us rich, imagine what investing in the technology that powers those products could yield.'
